What Happens Next & Sales Policy
Thank you for applying to become a Halbert Farm animal parent! Your application has been successfully submitted. Here is what to expect next. If we currently have piglets or zebu available you can find them under the "Shop" menu. You can send us an email directly to start the process to reserve the animal of your choice.
1. Waiting List
If we do not have the animal of your choice available you automatically get added to our email list. This is process we go through once piglets are born. A similar process for the miniature zebu cows applies.
-
Litter Notifications: When a new litter is born, we complete litter notifications with the registries, evaluate the piglets for structural soundness, and create their profiles on our website.
-
Piglets / Zebu: Get Uploaded to the website with photos and details.
-
Email Waiting List: I send out an email to everyone on the list and I try to give preference to the people at the top of the list. They will have first pick but I do require a quick response. If someone responds first, they will be able to reserve the piglet of their choice.

3. Reserving Your Piglet
Once you select an available piglet from our notification email, the final reservation steps are time-sensitive:
-
Submit Your Deposit:
A $100 non-refundable deposit is required via Venmo or PayPal to officially hold your piglet. This deposit applies directly toward your total balance.
2. Sign the Purchase Contract:
We will email you our official sales contract. This must be reviewed, signed, and emailed back to us immediately to validate the reservation.
3.Prepare & Follow Along:
While your piglet grows, follow our Facebook or Instagram to see updates and watch them on our farm Live Stream! Start prepping your secure fencing, shelter, and purchasing Purina Pig & Sow feed from Tractor Supply.
4. Pickup Day (At 8 Weeks Old)
Piglets are fully weaned and ready for their new homes at 8 weeks of age.
-
Final Payment: The remaining balance ($400 for pets, $600 for breeding stock) is due strictly on or before pick-up day.
-
Pickup Time Slots: We block out dedicated 1-hour slots for each family. You will get to meet the parent pigs, see our setup, go over the care routine, and transition feed. We are committed to being your lifelong mentors!
-
Transportation Requirements: You must bring a medium-to-large dog kennel. For the safety and health of the piglet, they must ride inside an air-conditioned/heated vehicle depending on Texas weather. Please note: Piglets get car sick! Bring a towel, a small pet water bowl, and a gallon of water.
-
Boarding Fees: If you cannot pick up your piglet within one week of their official weaning date, a boarding fee of $5 per day will apply unless alternative arrangements are agreed upon in advance.
Crucial Action Item for Female Pet Buyers:
If you indicated on your application that you want a female companion/pet pig, please call your livestock veterinarian today for a 40 lb spay estimate. You can reply directly to your application confirmation email and attach a photo or PDF of the estimate so we can clear your application for approval immediately!
