Cuddle with Kunekune Pigs: The Best Animal Experience in DFW

Looking for a unique animal experience in DFW? Come join us for a 1.5-hour visit at Halbert Farm!

Rebeka showing guests a piglet

If you love pigs or are looking for something truly one-of-a-kind to do in the DFW area, you’ve found it. At Halbert Farm, we don't just "show" you pigs—we invite you into their world. Whether you’re a lifelong animal lover or just need a day away from the city, our Kunekune pigs are ready to meet you.

Tour Times & Booking

To keep the experience intimate and stress-free for our animals, we host only one tour a day at 2:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. Our calendars are always kept up to date, so you can see real-time availability. You can book your spot directly through the "Book a Tour" button on our website or find us on Airbnb Animal Experiences.

What to Expect During Your 1.5-Hour Visit

We want your time at Halbert Farm to be the highlight of your week! Here is the play-by-play of how we spend our time together:

  • A Personal Introduction: When you arrive, you’ll meet Josh and start with the story of the Kunekune breed—from their near-extinction in New Zealand to how they became the stars of our farm in Burleson.

  • The "House Pig" Meet-and-Greet: You’ll get to meet our house pigs, including Ripley, and see firsthand why these animals are often called "dog-like" in their intelligence and affection.

  • Pasture Time: We’ll head out on our 10 acres to the various piggy pastures. This is the "main event." You aren't just looking at the pigs through a fence; you are in the pasture with them.

  • The Famous "Belly Rub": Kunekune pigs are obsessed with attention. Expect them to waddle right up to you and "flop" over. This is your cue! They live for belly rubs and will stay there as long as you're willing to pet them.

  • Treat Time: We wrap up the tour by letting you feed the pigs their favorite veggie treats. It’s the perfect photo op and a great way to say goodbye to your new 200-pound best friends.

  • Along the way: You may get to visit with the horses, donkey, chickens, and our livestock guardian dogs, Faye and Maeve.

Know Before You Go: Pro-Tips for a Great Tour

To make sure you have the best experience, keep these few things in mind:

  • Dress for the Farm: You will be sitting on the ground in the pasture and getting up close with animals. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty and closed-toe shoes (no sandals or heels!).

  • Camera Ready: We love it when guests take photos! If you’re lucky, you might even catch a "piggy smile" or a group cuddle. Don't forget to tag us @halbertfarm.

  • Age Requirements: * Our standard Cuddle Experience is designed for guests ages 18 and up to keep the atmosphere calm and focused.

    • We also offer a 10-year-and-up Kids Tour for families! This tour is 1 hour long and usually stays in the backyard and pen areas. For safety, we do not go into the larger pasture area with the big pigs during the kids' tour.

A Note on Piglets and Our Herd

We generally have piglets in the Spring and Summer. Because very young piglets are still bonding with their mothers, you will get to see them but not touch them. The best time to interact with piglets is after they are 3 weeks old. Feel free to ask us if we have piglets before you book!

However, the tour is amazing with or without piglets. Each of our pigs has their own unique

story, and you can really see Josh's love and passion for them during the walk. We have around 30 pigs that you get to meet (not including piglets!), and all of our pigs have a forever home here to retire.
