Have you ever wanted to show livestock? We are looking for kids or adults who would be interested in learning how to show Kunekune Pigs. There are two virtual Kunekune pig shows in the year. The Spring Classic in May and the International Futurity Show in October.
How does this work?
Each entry must submit a 30-60 second video of the pig. Exhibitors should only be shown from the waist down. Your pig must walk toward, away, and profile of both sides to the camera. The pig has to be kept moving the whole time! Sounds simple enough right? We will take and submit the videos for you.
What will I learn?
First you will select the pig you want to work with, we have around 22 to chose from! You'll begin the first week bonding with your pig. You'll brush him or her and just spends some time getting to know them. The next week we will start working on teaching your pig it's go and turn "buttons". You'll have have a whip that we will provide. You will teach your pig to walk forward by tapping him on the shoulder. And you turn your pig by tapping near their cheek.
How do I sign up?
Please fill out this form. We are hoping to start Sunday March 5th. Then have designated days on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, plus Sundays to have you work with your pig. Once you are comfortable you can come on your own during other times or we can have other times available depending on your schedule. Our farm is at 2436 FM 731, Burleson, TX 76028
